“I’m confused, Mom”, my baby explained. “Some people say you aren’t a real American if you say that you don’t like things about America.”

“Baby, that’s an important question and I don’t have an answer.” I replied.  ”But Win Butler from Arcade Fire said that actual patriotism has to do with loving a place enough to try and improve it”.

My baby was silent for a moment.

“Well, I’m not going to go around being one of those dumb babies who wear Arcade Fire onesies to prove that their parents are hip, but I like that answer a lot.”
